David Rines

VP of Engineering

David is the Vice President of Engineering at GetReal Security, where he leads the build and scaling of the company's core product platform. Driven by a passion for closing the gap in securing the human layer, he brings a rare combination of deep engineering rigor and security domain expertise to the challenge of detecting and defending against AI-generated synthetic content.

He joins GetReal from Todyl, where as VP of Engineering he played a central role in maturing the company's unified SASE platform — driving it to five-nines availability, significantly improving performance, and reducing operational costs at scale. Prior to Todyl, he served as Principal Architect at Cisco's Duo Security, where he focused on scale and reliability at billions of authentications per day. He has also held engineering leadership roles at CrowdStrike and Pindrop, both operating at massive scale in the security space, and earlier in his career contributed to foundational work at Opnet Technologies, Riverbed Technology, and Sun Microsystems.

Beyond his industry roles, David has shared his expertise as an instructor in UC Santa Cruz's online continuing education program, where he helped develop and teach the DevOps curriculum. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
